Expanding multimedia coverage

So, I realize there has been a nice long gap in updates, and for that we apologize.

Anyway, if you read the last update, we finally put the Daily Globe’s very first writing style guide into effect. The purpose behind the style guide was the fix consistency errors when referring to local items that are commonly found in the news.

The newest update in the newsroom is the continued push to provide the citizens of Dodge City, Ford County and southwest Kansas the best source for information around. The Globe recently purchased a small hand-held video camera that will allow our reporters to record multimedia from everything from a rally to breaking news. Ever since the Globe started producing in-house videos in October of last year, our numbers have slowly been creeping up as word spreads that we now offer video, along with our usual news coverage and photo galleries.

And with the Dodge City Commission rate quickly coming up, you can count on the Globe to be source for everything you need to know about the race. In our continuing dedication to keeping you informed, this year the Globe will offer complete, uncut audio interviews with each of the candidates.

We’ll also offer an online and print voters guide come April 1, giving you a quick and easy guide to help you decide who will run our city.

The Globe will also provide you with video from this Saturday’s candidate forum, giving readers the chance to hear the candidates’ opinions straight from their own mouths.

So, lots of exciting stuff here in the newsroom as we continue to stretch our online wings in an effort to better inform the public.

As always, if you have any suggestions, concerns or criticisms, feel free to shoot either myself or our New Media Editor Shawn Cannon an e-mail below.
