About Eric

If you're interested in books -- the good, the bad and the ugly -- then I'm glad to welcome you aboard. I'm looking forward to lively discussions of books, reading and anything else that comes to mind.

A short biography: My name's Eric, and I've been a fixture at the Daily Globe for the past 12 years, I cover government (local and state), cops, courts and anything else that comes my way. I enjoy my job, but my real passion is books of all kinds -- novels, plays, nonfiction, you name it. I have to admit that I don't know a lot about sci-fi or fantasy, but I'm willing to be educated.

Some of my other interests (in no particular order) are movies, plays, music, "Top Chef" and "Project Runway," and the KU Jayhawks -- especially during basketball season. I also root for the Denver Broncos -- partly because I'm from Denver, and partly because my parents and brother are dyed-in-the-wool Broncos fans. No matter how badly the Broncos do, my family hasn't given up on them yet. I'm a much milder fan than they are, though -- my real allegiance belongs to the Jayhawks.

So anyway, welcome to Book Beat. I hope it provides plenty of food for thought, seasoned with humor, zest and the joy of reading.
